ATN Joined Brigada Eskwela 2011
Through the invitation of Philippine Business for Social Progress, ATN supported the Department of Education's Brigada Eskwela 2011. Brigada Eskwela is a nationwide concerted effort of parents, teachers, students, volunteers, organizations and the business sector in school preparations.
In responding to both strategic and immediate educational needs of our country, the ATN volunteers went to Bagong Silangan Elementary School, 2nd District, Quezon City, on 21 May 2011 to donate cleaning materials and to participate in the cleaning of classrooms.
Bagong Silangan Elementary School is second home to almost 7,200 pupils and 152 teachers. Most of its pupils are residents of Barangay Silangan and nearby communities like Brgy. Payatas and Brgy. Batasan Hills.
Joining Brigada Eskwela 2011 was indeed a meaningful and memorable experience for all the ATN volunteers.

PBSP Project Management Workshop
Getting Started With Corporate Citizenship
The Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) is the largest corporate-led, non-profit social development foundation in the Philippines. All Transport Network officially joins the PBSP on 29 March 2011 and attended the Corporate Citizenship Training Program on the same day. Such participation in the training program has made ATN understand and appreciate the concepts and principles surrounding corporate citizenship.
PBSP focuses on four (4) main program areas namely, environment, education, enterprise development, and health. All areas are also in line with the company's thrust to contribute to the country's social development and economic growth. ATN shall embark on an environmental project by getting involved in the reforestation initiative program of PBSP. With the help of PBSP, a tree-planting activity will be organized under the Marikina Watershed Initiative Program (MWIP).
The MWIP is a partnership with the Philippine Disaster Rehabilitation Foundation (PDRF). The watershed areas span a total of 28,000 hectares. Out of 28,000 hectares, only 20% of the total land area is estimated to have some forest cover.
This fact became more apparent during the typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng when it was discovered that the watershed was the main source of flood waters when the travesty occurred.
Currently, the minimum additional forest cover needed to reforest the watershed is at 34% or 9,520 hectares. This equates to approximately 6.7 million annual seedling requirement spread out over a five-year period.
For 2011, PBSP and PDRF have 100 hectares of the watershed to cover and PBSP is looking at involving its members to "adopt-a-hectare" and help in the efforts to reforest the watershed.
A variety of packages for PBSP members and partners are available, each suited to fit needs, resources, and advocacies.
Caring for the Cubs
As part of All Transport Network’s commitment to partake in social and environmental responsibility, it has recently grounded a solid partnership and agreement with a reputable carrier to handle the shipment of live animals particularly to Manila.
The ATN was awarded to import four African lion cubs from Dubai to Manila. A gift from a sheik in Dubai to one of ATN’s valued clients, the shipment of the cubs is a welcome addition to the growing services of All Transport Network as it explores the delivery of live animals and applies its mission-vision to deliver goods and services with utmost care while maintaining quality service.
The shipment of the four African cubs were handled and delivered safely and the ATN’s satisfied client has planned to breed the lion cubs in the Philippines.

Help Save The Marikina Watershed:
ATN's First Environmental Initiative
As All Transport Network partakes on the ongoing campaign to preserve and protect the Philippines' watershed, the first environmental initiative of ATN is scheduled in June 2011. Apart from "adopting-a-hectare," the CEO, the Management Team, and the staff of ATN will do periodic hands-on tree planting activity under the Marikina Watershed Initiative Program. ATN will also invite and mobilize the Gawad Kalinga (GK) youth to join said activity. Engaging the ATN team and the GK youth will help educate and solidify the environmental awareness of all the participants.
Apart from the activities' goal to educate the participants on how to value and be responsible for the environment, it also aims to make them realize how crucial it is to take part in the initiative programs and be able to contribute in reforesting the watershed. Realizing that the protection and preservation of the environment is a worthy cause, ATN has committed to plant hundreds, if not thousands, of native tree seedlings and fruit tree seedlings. Also, the project will benefit the farmers, as it will provide a source of livelihood through the purchase of seedlings from them including the preparatory work, monitoring, and evaluation for three years.
The Philippine Business for Social Progress shall help in organizing said CEO participation and employee volunteering activity of ATN. It will be a great opportunity to care for the environment and leave a legacy.
